Obituary

Boyd Davis

Boyd passed away after a long illness on June 27, 2021, at the age of 73.  He was the beloved and cherished husband of Anna (nee Belfiore) Davis and survived by his son Jeff, his mother Floy Davis, sister Brenda Johnson, brother Barry (Vera), and sister-in-law Betty Davis.  He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Doug Davis, father Dolphus B. Davis and brother, Bernie Davis.

Boyd graduated from Aiken High School and the University of Cincinnati.  He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a jet mechanic.  He achieved the rank of E-5 in the first two years of his service.

Boyd was loved by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.  Once you met Boyd you recognized and remembered him as a fun loving, personable man with a great sense of humor and a loving heart.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand even during times his illness caused him so much discomfort.  No one loved Christmas decorations and working in his yard more than Boyd.  His reward was sitting on the back deck drinking his coffee and watching tv.    

Boyd was a music lover and retained lyrics to every song he heard.  His love of music started with his lead roles in high school musicals.  He was an avid UC Bearcat football fan. Boyd loved playing soft ball and his homeruns are still talked about on the West Side of Cincy.  He coached both Jeff and Doug in numerous sports teams.  These now young men always remember him driving them in his Datsun station wagon.  Telling him every time they saw him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home, 2880 Boudinot Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45238.  Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at San Antonio Church, 1950 Queen City Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45214.  Burial will follow at the New St. Joseph Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to:

Marge Mappin

Cincinnati – Margaret M. Mappin, 98 passed peacefully in the care of her loving family on June 19th 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Mappin. She is survived by her brother Bob Studt and many special nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a visitation Thursday June 24th from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at 11 AM, all at San Antonio Church 1950 Queen City Avenue Cincinnati, Ohio 45214. Wenke, Juanita R. (nee Wuest) Beloved wife of the late Daniel C. Wenke, Jr., Loving mother of Rev. Leonard C. Wenke, Ellen (David) McGrath, Daniel J. Wenke, Julie Hauer, Thomas Wenke, Michael (Tina) Wenke and Stephen (Meg) Wenke. Devoted grandmother of Gary (Becky), Matthew (Kelly), Ryan (Lyndsay), David (Jen), Valerie & Andrew Roell, Sean McGrath, Jason (Tracy) and Jeffrey (Kim) Hauer, Thomas (Danielle), Kylie, Alex, Samuel, Sarah and Keegan. Great-grandmother of Gavin, Natalie, Alyssa, Brady, Kaden, Brennan, Skylar, Rhylin, Nathaniel, Evie Mae, Jasmine, Bella, Anthony, Maliah, Briana and Thomas Michael. Sister of the late Martha Conroy and Carole Lautenbach. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Juanita was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Mt. St. Joseph College. She was a longtime teacher of Art at C.O. Harrison School and was an active member of the Colerain Arts Society. Passed away in her home Monday May 17, 2021 Age 90. Dixie L. Brandewiede, (nee Klemme) left this life for her eternal life on January 31, 2021. She is the beloved wife of Fred Brandewiede, loving mother of Mark Brandewiede, Melissa (Jack) Hinkel, Matthew (Ann) Brandewiede; dear grandmother of Allison (David) Hinkel Tonnis, Molly (Jeremy) Haycraft, Jessica (Adam) Crider, Emma Brandewiede, Nikki (Mike) Vanderpool, and Michelle (Pete) Phillips. Also leaves behind four great grandchildren, and other family and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Mary Klemme and sister, Florence Bollinger. Dixie had a short career with the FBI as a stenographer before she began her life long career as a mother and homemaker. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Road, 451-8800 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. when a short service will be held followed by burial. Everyone is welcome; however, masks should be worn. Our family would like to acknowledge the loving care and support we received from the nurses and aides of Hospice of Cincinnati throughout all of Dixie’s illness. May 12, 1933 ~ May 14, 2020 (age 87)

We regret to inform you of the passing of Marleen (Cerullo) Steers, a long time member of our San Antonio Church Family. Due to the current pandemic, services will be private. Please keep Marleen’s family and friends in your prayers.

Our San Antonio Church community sends its prayers and condolences to the Steers, Cerullo, and Stevens families on the passing of Marlene (Cerullo) Steers.  She was a resident of Covenant Village at the time of her death.  Marlene was a parishioner of San Antonio throughout her life; along with her parents Anthony and Rose (Stevens) Cerullo who were both descendants of the original families who settled in the Lower Lick Run area of South Fairmount.  The Cerullo family homesteads were once located  at 1890 Queen City and 1730  Harrison Avenues.  Marlene and her mother Rose were staunch supporters of our church and were part of the organized group who held many meeting  and candle light vigils in the 1980’s to keep San Antonio open.  She was a member of the Ladies Sodality (later the Men’s and Women’s Society) and worked all the festivals, spaghetti dinners and other fundraising events.  She was present at the 50^th Anniversary, the Diamond Jubilee in 1997, and the dedication of our Memorial Brick Garden.  She became widowed early in her marriage when Ronald died suddenly and worked hard to support their 6 children on her own.  She eventually became the 1^st female E.M.T. Fire Fighter for the City of Cheviot from 1976-1998.  Preceding her in death were husband Ronald, sons Duane, Dana and Darren Steers.  Marlene leaves to mourn her passing, daughters Diana Michaels, Donna (Ted) Richards, Debbie (Jim) Still, 12 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren.  She also leaves many cousins and friends.  A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.

Steers, Marlene A. (nee Cerullo), beloved wife of the late Ronald Steers. Loving mother of Diana Michels, Donna (Ted) Richards, Debby (Jim) Still and the late Duane, Dana and Daren Steers. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, staff & friends from Covenant Village. Dear sister of the late Rosie Schneller. Loving daughter of the late Anthony Cerullo and Rose (Stevens) Cerullo. Age 87 years. Marlene was the first female E.M.T. Fire Fighter for the City of Cheviot. She served faithfully from 1976 to 1998. Services will be private. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
